The Yard Sessions feat. JadaL is a two-day mini music festival hosted by The Fridge at the Yard in Alserkal Avenue.

We’re excited to announce that we are kicking off this year's edition of the Yard Sessions on 14 December with a special guest performance by JadaL. Don't miss the Jordanian Arabic rock pioneers, as they perform their high-energy hits on Day 1 of the Yard Sessions!

On Day 2 of the Yard Sessions, catch some of the region’s most talented musicians, including Seventh Sea, Ghaliaa, The Deer Hum, Jamie Wrecs, Counting in Spanish, Amjad Shakir, and MONTEATH.  

Enjoy two days of unique performances by the Middle East’s most talented musicians, accompanied by visuals by artist Mal Vecino, and check out our F&B partner concepts Mirzam, WILD & The MOON, Saj & Co, and Project Chaiwala.

About JadaL: JadaL are the independent Arabic rock pioneers of JordanThe band has made a name for itself with genuine reflection of emotions, heartfelt Arabic lyrcs, and perfectly crafted melodies with rock roots—a daring and energetic pop sound!

About Seventh Sea: Seventh Sea (Sagar Bhagat) is a DJ and Producer from Bangalore, India. His music is multi-dimensional due to the years spent exploring different styles of sound, with a strong undercurrent of Melodic House and techno. In his sets he amalgamates ethereal and eerie melodies with driving bass lines which can quickly adapt to peak hour vibes by switching genres to Dub, Industrial and Acid Techno.

About Ghaliaa: Ghaliaa is a Syrian singer/songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and composer. In 2018, 20-year-old Ghaliaa released her first singles, ‘Why’, ‘Praying’ and ‘Kel El 3alam’. Influenced by country music, Ghaliaa's sound fuses R&B, pop, and rock to form her unique take on storytelling about faith and love, all characterised by a raspy voice and versatile highs. 

 

About The Deer Hum: The Deer Hum are a Dubai-based, 5-piece indie/alternative act comprising of Andrei, Yohaan, Manuel, Alvin, and JJ. Having resided in the UAE for most of their lives, The Deer Hum’s catchy and introspective original music revolves around the expatriate experience in Dubai.

 

About Jamie Wrecs: Nomadic singer/songwriter Jamie Wrecs' single 'San Francisco' was largely well received with radio play on BBC Radio Wales and other radio shows. Currently recording a mixture of new tracks and experimenting with a fuller band sound, both indie rock and his more traditional folk-rock sound, he received a 'Time Out' nomination for 'Best Live Act'. Check out his latest single 'You Don't Know', out now.

 

About Counting in Spanish: Counting In Spanish is a 4 piece alternative rock outfit from Dubai. Formerly known as Physical Graffiti, the quartet have played several shows in the region, notably the Abu Dhabi F1 in 2015, Dubai RedFest 2015, opening for Jamie Woon at the Redbull Music Weekend 2016 in the Dubai Amphitheatre, and most recently, the Museland Records Showcase 2018 in Bahrain. The band is made up of Sandeep Sequeira (guitar), Darren Dharmai (bass), Zubin Aroz (Vox, guitar) and Ankhurr Chawaak (Drums). They are currently recording their second studio EP under the new moniker, with hopes to release it around mid-2019.

 

 

About Amjad Shakir: Amjad Shakir is a 26 years old multicultural singer. Born & raised in Saudi Arabia and from a Sudanese family, Amjad had a unique chance to absorb the culture of Arabia while keeping his African roots and heritage. A big fan of pop in his childhood, Amjad was influenced by Michael Jackson, Backstreet Boys, and other pop sensations that swept the world in the nineties. He later grew up to appreciate other genres such as soul, jazz and R&B.  Amjad is now a true definition of versatile multicultural singer and artist: he sings in English and Arabic, in Khaleeji, Egyptian, Lebanese, and Sudanese dialects and accents. Amjad plays guitar and his dynamic shows involve movement and dance, mostly hip-hop and dancehall.

 

About MONTEATH: MONTEATH is most often likened to Kings of Leon with hints of John Mayer, both of whom are big influences to the band. With a mix of cultural backgrounds including India, the Philippines, Portugal, Germany and Chile, the band have a variety of influences to pull from towards their music. They are truly a local homegrown band, with all 4 members having grown up in the UAE. They perform melodic, groove-oriented original compositions.
