FIELD MEETING Take 6: Thinking Collections | Asia Contemporary Art Week

Alserkal Avenue collaborates with Asia Contemporary Art Week (ACAW) to host the first off-site iteration of FIELD MEETING, the annual forum for arts professionals, in Alserkal Avenue in January 2019.

FIELD MEETING Take 6: Thinking Collections will take place alongside Quoz Arts Fest on Friday 25 and Saturday 26 January, 2019. Concrete, Warehouse 46 and Warehouse 47 will host 35+ newly commissioned performances, lecture-performances, curatorial talks, and a string of pop-ups by today’s outstanding artists, curators, and creative minds from across all regions of Asia and beyond.

Join over 300 international and MENASA arts professionals for an energetically charged, theatrically imbued, and uplifting two-day experience that seeks to replicate the intimacy of a studio visit on a communal scale. FIELD MEETING Take 6: Thinking Collections takes Curator Leeza Ahmady’s thesis of ‘seeing the artist as the first collector, and artists’ studios as primary collections’ as an entry point for discussing the term “collections” beyond a rigid art market lens. The forum reclaims collections as the living energy of people: their research, processes, and meaningful activities.
