Film Screening | 21 October 2015 - 4 March 2016 | A4 Cinema Room

Where We Dwell is the second iteration of Alserkal Avenue Programming’s film screenings series presented in collaboration with Cinema Akil. Developed to support Alserkal Avenue Programming’s 2015/2016 theme of interrogating the notions of community and belonging in Dubai, Where We Dwell explores the concept of home through five lenses: as a theatre for life; a cause or purpose; a feeling or an emotional state; a built environment; and an idea that arises in the absence of place.

The film programme spans a range of genres and eras, with highlights including John Ford's classic The Searchers (1956), Anthony Chen's Ilo Ilo (2013) and Jason Cohn and Bill Jersey’s documentary Eames: The Architect and the Painter (2011). The screening programme also includes special talks and introductions by experts and researchers from the film world.

Each Wednesday, a new film will premiere and will be repeated on Thursday and Friday. Screenings start at 7pm and are open to the public on a first-come-first-seated basis. Appetite will stay open till 8pm Wednesdays and Thursdays to coincide with the screenings.

Join Alserkal Avenue Programming and Cinema Akil on a long walk home through stories on film.
