After a long quiet summer, The Fridge's weekly Concert Series returns for its 24th Season!
The series kicks off on 25 September with a weekly show held every Monday until 16 October.
25 September | Philippe el Hage feat. Rawad Alahmadeya
Philippe El Hage is a true mastermind on the Piano and his compositions beautifully reflect his diverse influences: jazz, classical harmony and oriental music. He has traveled the world, wishing to convey his passion for the instrument. Here he will be joined in his original compositions by percussionist, Rawad Alahmadeyah. Expect a dynamic performance from these two exceptionally talented musicians.
2 October | Ab Initio
Come and taste this intoxicating fusion of progressive, classic and alternative rock mixed with blues and jazz! Ab Initio brings a unique sound, taking influence from the diverse cultural backgrounds of the band members, fully benefitting the band's style orientation and originality. The band is spearheaded by singer/songwriter Jamil Jabbour, whose voice is renowned in Dubai for its soul and passion. Jamil tries something new for this performance, teaming up with a group of instrumentalists who have taken his music to the next level. Opening for them are The Losing Party the powerful prog. metal duo with a cult-like following.
9 October | As Per Casper
We bring you As Per Casper, a Dubai-based singer-songwriter who gave up a successful career in finance to pursue her true passion of music. She is one of the most exciting talents in the UAE’s music scene, with her debut album 'Hit The Ground' reaching #1 on iTunes ME. From piano to strings, guitar to percussion, darbukah to the oud and even the trumpet. This concert is an exciting collaboration with the aim of bridging both the traditional Western and Oriental genres, forming a rich, full-bodied, symphonic pop musical celebration! Jawaher is an all-female instrumental and vocal band based in Dubai, brining a funky edge to Arabic music with their use of electric oud.
16 October | Vicente Allende
We bring you a live showcase of music from the album Nuestro Amanecer, an eclectic mix of Latin ballads and Rhumba with plenty of room for some serious Flamenco grooves. The album essentially summarizes the musical life of Chilean singer, songwriter and guitarist, Vicente Allende. Although Vicente is often compared to the Gypsy Kings, don’t be mislead, as his original compositions will take you much further than expected.
