Syria: Into the Light

Syria: Into the Light is an exhibition of more than 60 works by over 40 artists illustrating the landscape of Syrian art from 1924 through to 2016. The exhibition will highlight the trajectories and shifts of art movements in Syria and its socio-cultural histories, representing different movements, techniques and mediums, including painting, drawing, sculpture, photography, and video art. The exhibition is based on the theme of ‘Portraits and Figures’ and is curated by the founder of the Atassi Foundation, Mouna Atassi, in collaboration with writer and curator Rasha Salti. The Syria: Into the Light exhibition marks the inauguration of Concrete, the OMA-designed space in Alserkal Avenue. The Atassi Foundation’s exhibition, taking place from 9 March - 3 April, will be a true display of the struggles and triumphs of Syrian history. 

The Atassi Foundation is an independent non-profit initiative, founded by Sadek and Mouna Atassi to promote Syrian art and culture. The Atassi Foundation aims to celebrate Syrian art by exhibiting it, enhancing its global visibility, and supporting creative production of young talent.
