A multi-disciplinary position that includes managing Alserkal’s branding identity as well as its umbrella initiatives. On a day-to-day basis the design executive’s responsibilities encompass 360-degree creative execution of branding identity, development of online and print projects, development of special merchandising products, collateral for events, and ownership of any other in-house or third-party collateral that involves Alserkal’s branding and visual presence. The Design & Branding Executive position must ensure the smooth delivery of assets in a timely manner, ensuring all requirements and specifications are in place and is able to manage the project through all phases.

Overtime work is expected in times of intensive workload and during special projects. Independent judgement, and organisational thoroughness are necessary to prioritise and complete tasks. Ability to influence and work collaboratively in a cross-functional environment is necessary.



ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & OBJECTIVES

Alserkal provides homegrown organisations and initiatives an opportunity to grow within an innovative and inspiring framework. It also extends a platform to creative individuals in the community to realise their projects. Currently expanding in size, Alserkal is undergoing a major transition, solidifying its position as a cultural destination and building a new narrative by welcoming 40 new organisations into the fold.

With this in mind, the main objectives will be to oversee Alserkal’s branding, in addition to managing high profile projects, in addition to the successful implementation and management of day-to-day design requirements.

Therefore, the position of Design & Brand Executive plays an instrumental role in raising and maintaining the high standards that we have set at Alserkal, as well as driving the creative direction to produce the most effective and persuasive work possible.

 

DAILY FUNCTIONS

  • Liaise with and assist the Brand team and the larger Alserkal team to meet anticipated timelines for all projects.

  • Assist and support in all projects initiated by lead designer

  • Oversee the delivery of Alserkal’s design / brand identity across all platforms, from collateral to online and print domains.

  • Oversee the delivery of Alserkal’s sub brands and initiatives on design / brand identity across all platforms, from collateral to online and print domains. This includes Alserkal Avenue, Alserkal Arts Foundation, Concrete, A4 space, Quoz arts fest and all branded content associated with Alserkal.

  • Manage design projects from ideation to design, print and production; complete design projects that have already been started by the Lead Designer.

  • Develop concepts, graphics and layouts for product illustrations, Alserkal logo + sub brands and websites.

  • Manage and liase with comms team and agency on the design of the new upcoming website.

  • Based on an agreed brief, prepare rough drafts of material for feedback and approvals.

  • Liaise with third-party printing services to ensure deadlines and budgets are met and material is printed to the highest quality, in line with Alserkal branding guidelines.

  • Use and manage independent creative judgement to take Alserkal identity forward to reflect the new narrative of expansion concepts to join AA community, as well as our own homegrown programming and umbrella initiatives.

  • Help establish and maintain the highest possible standards for all digital, print, audio/visual, and collateral materials produced by Alserkal.

  • Manage art workflow for all Alserkal umbrella initiatives and partners.

  • Monitor design quality of finished and conceptual materials produced.

  • Help and contribute as required during special projects and events. This may, at times, include functions outside of the design role.

KNOWLEDGE & EDUCATION

  • A Bachelor’s degree in design, branding, illustration or related area

  • 3-5 years experience in a fast-paced, high-volume environment

  • Excellent grasp of Adobe Creative Suite; proficiency with Mac OS X

  • An in-depth understanding and appreciation of the current public engagement agenda of A4 and Alserkal Avenue

  • A demonstrable understanding of, and commitment to arts and culture 

SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • High levels of proficiency with the Adobe creative suite programmes

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively as part of a team

  • High levels of self-motivation, with the ability to work within an environment subject to change

  • Confidence to present and explain ideas to the team and AA partners

  • The ability to grasp the needs of Alserkal as an organisation and consider practical solutions

  • The ability to multitask and simultaneously manage multiple projects at once, while ensuring the highest quality execution possible within set deadlines

  • Ability to accept constructive criticism

  • Energy and drive with a focus on successful delivery

  • Outstanding communication skills, both oral and written, and the ability to engage and build relationships with a range of stakeholders both internal and external

  • Previous experience in managing budgets and timelines for design projects

  • Ability to prioritise workflow and redirect agency projects to meet competing and changing deadlines

  • Keen sense of attention to detail with a view to implementing and maintaining brand identity
